Wa-Der Delivery

This morning I hear “Wa-Der, Wa-Der” being yelled from below my balcony. It took me a few seconds to realize what I was hearing.

When I need a botellón de auga (big blue 5 gallon bottle of drinking water) I put the empty bottle out on the balcony window so they can see I need water when they pass by.

The guys like to try and speak English and I correct them and usually teach them a new word in English.

I toss the bottle down, go open the bottom door and return to my door keeping it shut. Inteliperra is very aggressive when anyone she does not know comes to the door, Buenagente could care less. It’s the opposite when we take a walk outside.

The water guy has to leave the bottle outside of the door and I hand him the RD$30 pesos. I wait until he exits the bottom door and go down to close it. Teli and Buena both have to smell the bottle to make sure it’s OK before I carry it into the house.
