Kids & Rain

I was out in the park at La Francia, Villa Duarte in Santo Domingo Este with Buenagente and Inteliperra yesterday afternoon and it started to rain. It was a heavy downpour. The heavens opened up and we were soaked as we ran for cover under someone’s stairs across the street from the park.

We ran for cover and the neighborhood kids headed into the rain. They were sliding down the sidewalks. Riding bikes. One guy was taking a shower from water pouring from a roof pipe.

I stood there undercover laughing at them from my safe spot. Wishing I could have joined in and knowing it would be too stupid to even try. What if I slipped and fell? What if my phone got wet? And I knew the dogs would not go willingly into the wetness. Maybe I might have it it was on a soft sandy beach but not on a hard paved road.

It’s not easy getting old.
