I was crying with the trees this morning. Walking to the Faro Colón I could not believe my eyes. Parque Pensador on Ave. Mirador del Este, Santo Domingo Este was accosted! Yesterday trucks came and destroyed the trees in the park. It looks like a bomb exploded! Trees broken and fallen. Plowed down. Such an atrocity.
I stood there and cried. I could almost feel the tears of those poor trees as their life was ripped from them as they were torn and mutilated. There was nothing else I could do.
Some neighbors said the trees were removed because the park is used by drug users and dealers. There is a police station directly across the street. Send police to sit in the park and arrest the druggies! DON’T CUT DOWN THE BEAUTIFUL TREES IN ONE OF THE FEW GREEN AREAS IN THE CITY!!!
It’s too late to save these beautiful trees but something needs to be done. This is not right.
Please share this to whomever can help or to the government offices that can stop things like this from happening in the future.
