First thanks to all for the Birthday wishes yesterday. I turned 54 on the 20th of October. It was a good day.
Anyhow. My old tennis shoes have been held together with glue and lots of window silicone caulk for the last 6 months trying to get every last bit of life outta those babies. Yesterday morning as Teli (my dog) and I were returning home from the morning walk my shoe blew out completely. It was time to put those old shoes to rest and get a replacement. RIP my good old friends.
So I had to go out shoe shopping which I hate doing. I hate any type of shopping. Trying on stuff. Just no fun at all.
I went up to the old down town of Santo Domingo, La Mella. There was a place I saw that had shoes all hanging from the roof. They were not the brand new shoes but maybe seconds or ones that had been returned and the stores cannot sell then as new or they had a little flaw. This is where I was heading.
I told the shoe guy that I had $1000pesos to spend and I wanted a pair of tennis and a pair of sandals. We dug around in the mass of shoes to find something that would fit my big size 9 or 10 dogs. Was not an easy feet..lol..I said feet..get it looking for shoes..feet..oh well, anyhow, on with the story.
Found what I wanted. Bickered over the price as the sandals were a bit more expensive as they were pretty nice. So I got both for $1100 which is about maybe $25usd.
So this morning the new tennis went out for their first dog walk. My dogs, Teli and the new shoes. Get it…my dogs..slang for feet…and my dog Teli…it was funny in my head…on with the story.
We went down to Playita Montecino for her romp and here are the morning in pictures. Breaking in the new tennis.
The sun was rising and the tennis were enjoying the view at the beach behind the Montecino Statue, Playita Montecino.
Bowie and the whale were both welcoming to the new tennis. Teli had her smell time last night so she was not as interested in the new shoes. She was more into wave watching.
The new shoes had to stop and check out the view as well. Since this was their first day they were a bit more impressed with the beach. As time passes it will just be another morning walk to the beach as they get used to the plan.
My shoes seem to be concerned about others. Here they are taking time to respect other shoes that have gone to shoe heaven.
Even baby shoes need a little respect. My new shoes have soul..jjejej..get it shoes…sole..soul..on with the story.
Before we left the beach the shoes had to be baptized with a wave of salt water. Erase the old smells from them and get the new smells of the tennis new life into the fibers.
Welcome to my world my new tennis.
