Duarte Day Walk-About

When there is not a lot of traffic either on weekends or on holidays I like to do a long morning walk with the dogs.

We take turns picking the direction we go. Just like when I was a kid and my mom would take me and my sister out for a ride. We would just drive the back roads where we had never been before. We would take turns picking which direction we would turn when we came to a crossroad. It was always an adventure. So now I do this with the dogs when we go walking.

Today we walked around 4 miles. From home to Mirador del Este then around near to the Puente Ramón Matías Mella and back towards home.

Here is our walk in pictures.

At the Faro a Colón we saw some really pretty black flowers.

Then we went onto a dirt road in Residencial Las Flores del Faro. I like collecting pictures of different churches, especially ones in the country. Here is the Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo día El Faro II (Seventh Day Adventist).

A few buildings away from the 7th Day Church was a church where the building was for sale. Église Assemblée De Dieu Haïtien (Haitian Assembly of God).

All round the Faro a Colón are beautiful walk ways. Well, I’m sure they were beautiful at one time. They are pretty much abandoned and there is garbage everywhere. I still enjoy walking these circular paths that are shaded under some beautiful trees. The dogs, Inteliperra and Buenagente, love walking these paths and we do it often.

We ended up on Avenida España, Villa Duarte.

There was a table set up and the man was selling fish. They were asking about the dogs. Buenagente loves to smell the fish.

We ended up taking a little rest under the trees at the clover Avenida 25 de Febrero that heads to the Puente Ramón Matías Mella. I love these trees with their roots and vines dangling.

Then we headed towards home. Passing the Parque Monument de la Caña.

It was a good walk-about.
