I finally got to go to Palenque Beach. This is moms favorite beach that is close to the city. Now I know why.

A friend of my moms, Craig, whos dog Shadow just had her operation so she would not have any babies offered to take us in his truck. My mom was so excited. I just was not sure when he pulled up to the house and we approached the vehicle.

Shadow was happy and jumping all over. She made me nervous. I do not ride in cars that much and having this dog, the owner of the truck, claiming the back seat, I just did not want to go there.

They finally let me sit in the front seat on moms lap even though I was shedding badly and getting her all hair covered she didn’t mind.

We finally got to the beach and we all jumped out of the truck. It was wonderful!

Shadow had been there before and was acting crazy digging around in the sand. I just could not understand what she was doing and why was she digging when there was nothing there. To each their own I guess.

Mom, Craig and Shadow headed to the water. There were small waves rolling onto the shore. They frightened me. I so wanted to join them playing in the water. I kept trying to go into the water but as soon as it touched my toes I ran away. Mom was calling me and Craig and Shadow looked like they were having such fun. I so wanted to join in.

Mom kept calling and I know she wanted me to join her so I decided to make her happy. I stepped back a few steps, closed my eyes and ran! I felt the water on my toes and leaped into the air. I hit the water past the wave and swam to mom. As she reached out to grab me I dodged her hand and went toward Craig and Shadow for a few strokes. Then I saw Shadow splashing and I decided that this was enough for 1 day and headed back to the safety of dry land. Mom was laughing as she came out of the water. I made her happy. I am such a good girl!

I spent the rest of the day relaxing and just watching Shadow playing in the water or digging a hole non stop. Where does she get all that energy?

We ate some yummy fried fish, some lambi and some clams then it was time to go home. I really did not eat the clams. I didn’t like them but the other stuff was good.

I did get into the back seat for the ride home. Shadow let me as long as I stayed on my own side. I was looking out the window and enjoying the breeze on my nose. Shadow fell asleep right away. No wonder with all the playing she was doing. She wore herself out.

We drove past the Plaza de la Bandera on the ride home.

When we got home first thing we did was take a shower. That cool water felt so good rinsing the salt and sand off my body. Mom did not even use the towel on me. I just shook off and went to the sofa to rest after my great day at Playa Palenque. I hope we can do it again soon.

Thank you Shadow and Craig for taking us to the beach!

Christmas time is almost here. There are too many people in the streets being crazy. I do not like all the noise and the crazy humans out there woohooing and yipping. They complain when we dogs bark too much but they can go out there and act worse and make more noise than us animals. At least when we dogs bark we are saying something pertinent. Humans…gotta love ‘em.

I went to Casa Reales. They were so nice to me. They said when there are not many visitors to the museum I can come in and check it out. They have the traditional Nativity Creche scene. The Mother Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in the manger with the angel flying overhead. It was really pretty but moms camera just would not take a good picture so they are a little cloudy. She did not want to put them up but I told her that they were better than nothing and that if she was a good girl I would let her take me back and try for some better pictures. But, she has to be a really good mom or I won’t go there.

The big Christmas Tree by Coca-Cola is up at Plaza España. Mom says they do it every year but this is the first time I have seen it. It is really pretty and big. Wow! I wanted to go to Harry’s Bar and sit for a while, they are nice to me there, but mom wanted to keep walking.

Mom and I walked around some more and came back to the Plaza when it was getting dark on our way home. We got to see the tree all lit up. The lights were so bright and pretty. I liked the top where it looked like the lights were dripping. There was a group of kids singing and talking on a stage. Mom tried to take a picture but none came out very good.

I was happy to get home. We made it just in time before the fire works started. I do not like them very much so I was happy that I could hide away in my house for all those banging noises. Mom and I had a fun time. I hope there will be more Christmas pictures coming soon.

Mom took me for another Walk-about around Colonial Zone. This time we went up the hill to the Ruins of San Francisco. This is an old and spooky looking place. It has so many interesting smells. Smells from the past to the present.

I think I smelt a pirate. Mom said Sir Francis Drake destroyed this place and took over Santo Domingo around the year 1586 so maybe thats who I caught a whiff of. Cannot believe my sniffer works from that far back.

Mom said the main part of this monastery started being built in 1509. I really could care less about all those dates and stuff. All I know is the place is really old the same as most of the Zona Colonial. It looks really cool too.

I thought it was interesting to see all those birds mom called pigeons all over the building. Mom said the park that I was in the neighbors call it pigeon park so maybe thats why all those birds are there. I am wondering where is the dog park (I can make a joke too).

There are all sorts of strange rocks laying around the yard here. I wanted to check it out but mom said she did not want me going in there this visit. I think the place is haunted. I was a little nervous and it was not because of all the people and dogs around. This picture has two shadows on the far fence. Maybe they are ghosts??

More history or the Ruinas del Monasterio de San Francisco and a picture slide show of the Ruins of San Francisco on my moms web site www.colonialzone-dr.com.

Almost everyday my mom and I walk to this park called Plaza Pellerano Castro. It is a nice quiet park with lots of places to sit and relax.

The park is named after some poet guy that lived a long time ago. My mom said his statue used to be on the pedestal there but its gone now. Maybe some day I will be a detective and sniff it out. Someone probably stole it to sell for scrap metal..humans, Ill never understand them.

Across the street from the park on the other side of Isabel la Catolica there is a door guarding a place where the humans living there park their cars. Someone painted eyes on that door. When I saw them the first time I jumped, but then mom says that I jump at everything (if you could see me right now I am rolling my eyes at her).

By the way, my mom and I have renamed the park to Teli Park. It is my park so mom said that I can call it whatever I want. I am there almost everyday so come and visit me sometime.

After my evening walk and when mom is done working and checking her web site we like to lay back on the sofa and watch some TV or a movie on the Internet. Mom usually makes some popcorn for us. She likes hers with hot sauce and I like mine plain without salt or butter (I probably would like the salt and butter but NOOO, she will not let me have that).

A few nights ago mom’s favorite movie of all time was on TV. The Wizard of Oz, in Spanish it’s El Mago de Oz. She was so excited to share it with me. I could not figure out too much that was going on but she was singing every time the movie sang and talking along with the movie people. She liked to say “Toto too?”, “Run Toto, run!” and “If I only had a brain.” Do you think my mom could be a little crazy?

This picture she took when the nasty Wicked Witch was keeping Dorthy in her castle and Toto ran away to get help. I liked that part of the movie. Toto saved the day!

I am Teli, short for Inteliperra. My mom said that I am smart and am not a human thus Inteli-perra not Inteligente. The new mom brought me into her home last Thursday night. Before I was living with my first mom who rescued me from deaths door. She took me in when I was just a little puppy, not old enough to take care of myself, and nursed me back to health. She gave me the name Pajarito. I sure love her and always will. Thanks to her I am alive and loved.

The old mom had to move to a smaller apartment and she could not keep me. She searched and searched for the right home for me because she wanted me to have the best. Finally she found my new mom who loves me with equal love and dedication. So the old mom can let me go and not worry anymore about me. I have a home. But..the old mom can always come and visit me.

My mom lives in Colonial Zone, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is the oldest city in the New World. It can get noisy and a bit crazy here. Not at all what I am used to but I am starting to get used to it now. My apartment is a little small but mom takes me out walking alot so I can deal with it. I love having access to the bed and sofa which makes my sleeping and relaxing time much more comfortable.

I wanted to start a blog because my mom has a web site about Colonial Zone and Dominican Republic and she works alot on it so I wanted to be part of the web site building business. Thus, I made this blog. It is to share my views of Dominican Republic. My views on life. Places that are dog friendly so we know what restaurants and hotels will let us stay. Adoption agencies and businesses that help out dogs and other animals. Businesses that sell my food, toys and other stuff we dogs and other animals love. Veterinarians and Doctors that help to keep us healthy, even though I do not like vets very much, I know they are here to help me so I must respect them.

I am trying to find a design that my mom and I like and then a banner that I can live with. Then my blog and web site will be up and running for all to enjoy.

If you see me walking around the Zona Colonial with my mom make sure to say hi. I can understand Spanish, English, facial expressions and body language so just about anyone can talk to me. Remember, I love cheese, not too much, a tiny tiny piece will be just fine, in case you want to give me a treat.
