Mom and I were taking a little walk down Calle el Conde on Sunday. As I have said before I really do not like the Conde during the week because there are just way too many people. Sunday is the day I can walk and feel ok. Except this Sunday.

Anyhow, we ran into our friend Andres. He sells stuff on the street. He is usually always there smiling at everyone. Andres had all the different sized mamajuana bottles lined up on display with all the paintings set up in the back. Most are the brightly colored paintings you see everywhere that are mass produced. My mom told me that she always checks out his shoes. He usually has some unique shoes on. I smelled them but they were not that special to me.

Mamajuana on Calle el Conde

(By the way, I do not drink mamajuana. I am not old enough to drink yet)

We stopped and talked to Andres for a little bit. We told him we might meet him later. Mom said she was not sure because she did not know how I would behave with all the people in the street for a big festival that was going on. I still get nervous when there is too much happening around me.

Mamajuana all in a row

I was getting a little nervous just standing there. So we decided to head out. More and more people were coming around. So mom and I got off the Conde and continued our walk.

The streets were so full of people, noise, cars and chaos in general. All the humans were getting ready for the last day of the Colonial Fest. Mom decided it was best for us to just go home.

On the way back home we passed by my friends that work in the bakery. I do enjoy the smell of that place. They are always happy to see me. I like them.

My bakery friends

I was so glad to get home to what I thought was going to be the nice quiet safety of my very own home. Well, because of that darn Festival, the house was not quiet. There was music, very loud, in the Fortelaza Ozama, a block away, that sounded like it was right under our window. We could not even hear the television sitting in the living room! There were cars in the street beeping because of the giant traffic jam. Those humans behind the steering wheel think a horn beep is going to magically make the line of cars go away. Silly humans. I may be a dog but I am not that stupid.

Looking out the window

So mom and I went to bed early. She wheeled the TV into the bedroom and put the fan on high so block out some of the outside noises. I curled up beside her and fell asleep.

Oh yea, my mom sells mamajuana on the internet. I do not understand how that works but she does it. If you want to buy some she told me to tell you about it. Purchase Mamajuana!

Mom has been wanting to take me to the beach but it is not easy getting anywhere when she does not have a car and the stupid guaguas do not permit dogs. Don’t they know I am a very special dog!?

Anyhow, my friend Juan Carlos who has a taxi business called JC Taxi, said he would take us in his taxi. We picked up Mamita, my moms great friend, and we were off. I have not been in a car for a long time and I was a little afraid to get in but once we started on our way I was enjoying it.

When we got to the beach I was so enjoying the sand on my toes. I think I come from beach dogs because it just felt so right to be there. I am a Caribbean dog.

I went to the water and bounced around there for a few minutes with mom but I need to work my way into getting used to it. It was fun and I can’t wait to really get into some swimming sometime soon.

We checked things out and I got to take in all the beach smells. There were a few local dogs trying to check me out but the man that takes care of the chairs liked me and he made those doggies go away. I felt very special.

Then we decided to eat. Mom and Mamita got fish. It smelt so good. Mom shared some of hers with me.

Then she had to play with the ugly fish head. She can be so silly at times. She told me I had to kiss the fish head. I did it just to get her and that nasty fish head out of my face. Moms…..whats a Teli to do with them…? hehe..

After we ate we decided to rest a bit. I had to be on the lounge chair. Me and mom were fighting for the top of the chair. We decided that i would get it some of the time and she would. We had to be fair.

There was this family in front of us. The one lady just could not stop looking at me. I had an admirer. She was really nice and she even came over and patted me on the head.

The sun started going down. We were getting tired and it was time to go home. Mamita was checking out the area. I like Mamita. She is a little afraid of me but I went over and laid beside her and she pet me. I think she likes me too.

When we left there was all this noise. The quad people were revving their engines. I do not understand why humans like all that noise. I will never understand noisy humans. But mom had to hold me for a little bit because I started shaking. I tried to be brave but it was just too much. But then Juan Carlos brought the car around and I felt safe when we got inside.

I had a great day. I really like the beach. I was amazed when I peed in the sand and it disappeared right away. I liked that. I also liked the fish. I enjoyed the attention I got when people saw me laying on moms lounge chair, especially when I was hiding under the towel, and they did not expect to see me on the chair. Everyone treated me really nice. But, it sure was nice getting back home where I know I am safe. I do want to go to the beach again soon.

My mom is trying to get me to be used to walking in the street and all the noise. She tells me that I am doing much better but I still get scared. I think I am doing better also. I am not pulling on the leash as much and that makes my neck feel so much better.

One noise I really hate is the Güira. It is that metal thing that people play, or think they play, music with. That sound is so annoying to my ears. My mom says she does not really like that sound either but at least she does not go into a panic mode when she hears it like I do. Now that mom knows I do not like that sound she tries to take me out of the place if someone starts playing that thing which I really appreciate. It is strange though, when I hear it on a recording with other music it does not bother my doggie ears. But when I hear it live it is sooo annoying. I do not know if other dogs feel the same but for those of you who like playing this instrument, if you see me somewhere, please try to not play it or at least tell my mom first so we can leave the place. Thank you.

A few days ago mom took me to a place to meet a friend of hers, now my friend too, that is a veterinarian. He will come to to your house if you live in the Santo Domingo area. This is how much he loves us animals. His name is Gabriel and his number is 809-272-7968. He also does grooming.

These are some pictures of me in the Colmado and some friends I met there. I had a good time.

Also, some human had a laptop computer. Mom and I told him to go to my blog and watch my Christmas Video Card. He and his friends laughed and laughed at my card. I love to hear the sound of those humans laughing. I am glad they enjoyed it.

Yesterday and today there has been lots of commotion in the street. The movie people are here making the movie “The Truth”. They took over the corner of my street yesterday. Now today, when I went for my morning walk at 6:30AM they were there. They were standing looking at me trying to take care of business in my usual place. Then lots of cars and a big truck came. They were banging in the truck taking things out. I do not like that kind of noise. It frightens me. But they did not care that they were intruding on my potty time. I peed but could not poop. Mom told me that she would take me out in a few hours because she understood. I just wanted to get back to my house and away from all the commotion.

I like MY Fort. I like MY morning pee and poop time quiet. But..NOOO…these strangers have to come and make it all difficult for me.

Normally the front of Fortelaza Ozama is quiet in the morning.

There might be a person or two or a police man standing at the Puerta de San Diego but nothing like whats going on now. This is terrible.

Why can’t the movie making people come at a decent time and leave me to my quiet mornings? I guess this is the life when you are living in Colonial Zone.
