Mom and I took a big walk-about today. We went up the hill by the wall of the Colonial Zone. There was a big bus filled with people carrying drums, trumpet horns, costumes and being noisy. They started making more noise and I got afraid. they were doing a promotion for Carnival. I wanted no part of it! Too much noise and crazy people for me. Mom was nice and got me away from there FAST!

I walked down Calle El Conde for a block. I was proud. I did not get afraid like before. Someday I will walk the entire Conde street.

I ate some ice in Parque Duarte and was feeling good so mom took me to the Feria Artesanal in Plaza Bartolome de las Casas. Lots of cool art work is for sale there by the artists that made the stuff.

Mom made me a long leash so I could have a little more freedom. I was playing hide and seek. Can you find me?

I liked the little booths and the colors. People painted their booths so pretty and artistic.

The statue was really big of the guy, Bartolome de las Casas, who the plaza was named after.

I really enjoyed the long leash and being able to sniff around.

I even made a friend. She was really nice and we played a little bit.

Mom took some pictures of her and I. We only had 1 picture of us together so she took some holding the camera out in front of us.

After we left the Plaza we walked for a few more hours. We stopped in one place where they are nice to me. They talk to me and pay attention to me and give me snacks. We do not remember the name of the Colmado but I like it there.

I had another glass of ice and got sooo tired. I could hardly keep my eyes open. People were laughing at me with my eyes closing and my head bobbing up and down.

Finally mom said it was time to go home. We were out for about 6 hours walking around, talking to friends and making new ones. It was a good day. I cannot wait to do it again.

Mom took me for another Walk-about around Colonial Zone. This time we went up the hill to the Ruins of San Francisco. This is an old and spooky looking place. It has so many interesting smells. Smells from the past to the present.

I think I smelt a pirate. Mom said Sir Francis Drake destroyed this place and took over Santo Domingo around the year 1586 so maybe thats who I caught a whiff of. Cannot believe my sniffer works from that far back.

Mom said the main part of this monastery started being built in 1509. I really could care less about all those dates and stuff. All I know is the place is really old the same as most of the Zona Colonial. It looks really cool too.

I thought it was interesting to see all those birds mom called pigeons all over the building. Mom said the park that I was in the neighbors call it pigeon park so maybe thats why all those birds are there. I am wondering where is the dog park (I can make a joke too).

There are all sorts of strange rocks laying around the yard here. I wanted to check it out but mom said she did not want me going in there this visit. I think the place is haunted. I was a little nervous and it was not because of all the people and dogs around. This picture has two shadows on the far fence. Maybe they are ghosts??

Yesterday and today there has been lots of commotion in the street. The movie people are here making the movie “The Truth”. They took over the corner of my street yesterday. Now today, when I went for my morning walk at 6:30AM they were there. They were standing looking at me trying to take care of business in my usual place. Then lots of cars and a big truck came. They were banging in the truck taking things out. I do not like that kind of noise. It frightens me. But they did not care that they were intruding on my potty time. I peed but could not poop. Mom told me that she would take me out in a few hours because she understood. I just wanted to get back to my house and away from all the commotion.

I like MY Fort. I like MY morning pee and poop time quiet. But..NOOO…these strangers have to come and make it all difficult for me.

Normally the front of Fortelaza Ozama is quiet in the morning.

There might be a person or two or a police man standing at the Puerta de San Diego but nothing like whats going on now. This is terrible.

Why can’t the movie making people come at a decent time and leave me to my quiet mornings? I guess this is the life when you are living in Colonial Zone.

We walked down to the park my mom calls HER Park. Parque San José. Here are what remains of the San Jose Fort. I liked walking up the ramp and looking over the edge. I was teasing my mom pretending I was going to jump. lol! Anyhow, my mom used to live in front of this park when she moved to Colonial Zone. Her and my sister, Sniffy, who she brought from USA with her when she moved to Dominican Republic.

I like this park. It has lots of trees to make it nice and cool. The big statue across the street from the park, Montecinos, is a little scary. When I get braver I will take a picture there.

I love watching people when they are not watching me. Just relaxing and observing. Maybe those tourists might notice me and not be afraid and give me a pat on the head. Or, even better, they might have some yummy type of food that I do not get at home and slip it to me when my mom is not looking. My mom is too protective sometimes. She will not let me eat anything on the street or take food from strangers unless she says it is OK. Well, I just wait until she looks the other way, grab whats there and chew really fast. She will never know. I know she does it because its best for me, you never know what someone will give you or if maybe someone does not like dogs and they put poison is it.

Just wait until I have my own business cards made, “Teli, The Dominican Dog”. With my own Blog and email address (forgot to add my email address is teli@colonialzone-dr.com). Then everyone will want to great me and give me treats.

This picture was taken on the corner of Calle las Damas and Mercedes in Colonial Zone at the corner of the big building that echoes when I walk by, Casas Reales. It is a museum and used to be some place where the government did whatever they do. Someday I hope they let me go inside and smell all the good smells there. They have lots of old weapons, Taino stuff, Old maps and even a sugar extractor mill that I bet really has some great odors. They also have a few Peacocks in their patio that I would love to check out closer.

I was walking around Colonial Zone with my mom on Sunday. My mom calls it her Walk-About and she told me that my sister, Sniffy, whom I never met, loved to do the long walks on Sundays. So if the sister liked it I have to at least give it the ole Inteliperra try. I was a little nervous because the day before there were lots of people and cars in the street and they make me nervous. I am not used to walking in the street so close to vehicles and with all those people. It will take me some time to get used to this.

We walked by Plaza Toledo and they were having an Antique Flea Market. Mom explained to me that they do this every Sunday. I was sniffing around a bit and I smelt some things that did not seem like antiques to me but they were still nice. The people selling were nice also because they let me put my little black nose on their stuff so I could check it out. I could get to like this town.

I am Teli, short for Inteliperra. My mom said that I am smart and am not a human thus Inteli-perra not Inteligente. The new mom brought me into her home last Thursday night. Before I was living with my first mom who rescued me from deaths door. She took me in when I was just a little puppy, not old enough to take care of myself, and nursed me back to health. She gave me the name Pajarito. I sure love her and always will. Thanks to her I am alive and loved.

The old mom had to move to a smaller apartment and she could not keep me. She searched and searched for the right home for me because she wanted me to have the best. Finally she found my new mom who loves me with equal love and dedication. So the old mom can let me go and not worry anymore about me. I have a home. But..the old mom can always come and visit me.

My mom lives in Colonial Zone, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is the oldest city in the New World. It can get noisy and a bit crazy here. Not at all what I am used to but I am starting to get used to it now. My apartment is a little small but mom takes me out walking alot so I can deal with it. I love having access to the bed and sofa which makes my sleeping and relaxing time much more comfortable.

I wanted to start a blog because my mom has a web site about Colonial Zone and Dominican Republic and she works alot on it so I wanted to be part of the web site building business. Thus, I made this blog. It is to share my views of Dominican Republic. My views on life. Places that are dog friendly so we know what restaurants and hotels will let us stay. Adoption agencies and businesses that help out dogs and other animals. Businesses that sell my food, toys and other stuff we dogs and other animals love. Veterinarians and Doctors that help to keep us healthy, even though I do not like vets very much, I know they are here to help me so I must respect them.

I am trying to find a design that my mom and I like and then a banner that I can live with. Then my blog and web site will be up and running for all to enjoy.

If you see me walking around the Zona Colonial with my mom make sure to say hi. I can understand Spanish, English, facial expressions and body language so just about anyone can talk to me. Remember, I love cheese, not too much, a tiny tiny piece will be just fine, in case you want to give me a treat.
